permalink Dear Tillie,
You have that wonderful new baby smell that is addictive and unique.  Your hair is fuzzy and silky and soft at that same time, like those minky baby blankets.  Your skin is a bit dry and flaky but no judgements - we still think you’re cute.  And it’s really just flaky because you were so so SO late, and probably wouldn’t have come out on your own if we had waited any longer.  I think you wanted to be our centerpiece for Thanksgiving - our little turkey.
You are quickly outgrowing your newborn goat-like and warbly cry, and finding your voice, which is a good thing, because with a strong big sister like Olive, you’ll need to shout to be heard.  But unless you’re hungry, mostly you are quiet and sweet, each day becoming more and more aware of the world around you and taking it all in.  Olive loves to pat you on the head (and she keeps trying to touch your eyeballs, although we’re working on that - so please accept our sincere apologies for now).
Choosing a name that starts with M after our late grandmothers (both Mary’s) and your middle name after your late grandfather, Frank, appears to have imparted some of their goodness and strength in you.  You are calm and mellow.  We needed mellow.  And you sleep!  My goodness do you sleep.  Please keep up the good work.
Love you to bits, little Birdie.  Our nest is now complete.
xoxo,
Mommy & Daddy
